The Abington Township Police Department recently released details and video footage from a shooting and robbery on January 1 at 8:00pm in a parking lot adjacent to Crestmont Park.

Detectives identified the shooter as Nehemiah Gonzalez, 17, who lives on the 1500 block of Coolidge Avenue in Willow Grove.

According to the Department’s press release, a male from Philadelphia arrived at the park to conduct a pre-planned drug transaction with the suspect. While the victim was still in his vehicle, the suspect pulled out a handgun, pointed it at the victim’s head, and announced a robbery.

The victim quickly accelerated his vehicle in an attempt to escape, and the suspect fired several rounds at him.

The rounds missed the victim and struck a home in the 2500 block of Rubicam Avenue.

On the morning of January 3, 2023, members of the Abington Police Department SWAT Team, executed a warrant service at Gonzalez’s home, but he was not located. A short time later, police found Gonzalez hiding out at a home in the 1600 block of Washington Avenue in Willow Grove.

Gonzalez was arrested without incident. Due to the violent nature of this crime, he will be charged as an adult with robbery and multiple firearms violations.
