Abington and Lower Moreland townships have declared a snow emergency for Sunday, January 20.
The National Weather Service’s forecast calls for 2-4 inches beginning Sunday.
Abington’s snow emergency begins Sunday at 6:00am and ends Monday at 6:00pm. Lower Moreland’s begins Sunday at 9:00am.

Abington Township Code 156.39 authorizes the Chief of Police to declare a SNOW EMERGENCY when snowfall exceeds two inches or, in the Chief’s discretion where conditions warrant such a declaration to combat the hazards of snow and ice on the highways. The Abington Township Police Chief, Patrick Molloy, has declared a Snow Emergency for Abington Township beginning Sunday, January 19, 2025 at 6AM and ending Monday, January 20, 2025 at 6PM. No parking is allowed on the Snow Emergency Routes. Vehicles left on Snow Emergency Routes may be towed and impounded at the owner’s expense. From Lower Moreland’s announcement:
Lower Moreland Township has declared a snow emergency effective Sunday, January 19, 2025 at 9:00 AM. Township code requires all motor vehicles to be removed from roads and snow to be cleared from fire hydrants. Township residents are also required to clear a pathway, not less than 30 inches in width, on sidewalks by removing snow and ice within 36 hours after snow has stopped falling. Please do not shovel or plow snow from driveways or sidewalks into the street or onto someone else’s property. Should a power outage occur, please call PECO’s emergency phone line at 1-800-841-4141. For all emergencies, dial 9-1-1.
