Abington High math teacher accused of misconduct, school officials and police notified

Abington School District told Glenside Local today that superintendent Dr. Jeffrey Fecher was alerted via email about a “concerning anonymous post that was shared on a community Facebook group page, which contained allegations of potential misconduct by a school employee.”

The post’s allegations involve Mr. Blase Fiorino, a mathematics teacher at Abington Senior High School. Dr. Fecher issued a memo in response to the email.

“The Abington School District takes any and all allegations of staff misconduct seriously and as such this matter has been reported to the Abington Police Department as well as to Childline pursuant to our obligations as Mandatory Reporters under the Child Protective Services Law,” Dr. Fecher said in the memo. “Anyone with information relevant to this matter is encourage to contact the Abington Police Department at 267-536-1100.”

According to an anonymous Facebook post, Mr. Fiorino called a former student “beautiful when we were alone in the classroom” among other statements. The post goes on to state that his comments progressed after the student graduated and alleges that other female students have experienced similar misconduct from Mr. Fiorino.


According to the district’s website, Mr. Fiorino has been teaching at Abington Senior High School for the past 28 years. His courses include BC Calculus, AB Calculus, and Precalculus.
