Senator Maria Collett of Fort Washington announced today grant funding administered by Pennsylvania Commission on Crime and Delinquency (PCCD) to support mental health and safety programs at nonpublic schools.
Grant awardees in greater Glenside include:
- The Academy of The New Church – Boys School – $74,671
- The Academy of The New Church – Bryn Athyn Church School – $74,452
- The Academy of The New Church – Girls School – $68,767
- Queen of Angels Regional Catholic School – $11,056
- The Montessori School – $75,000
- Saint Albert the Great – $61,596
- Valley Christian School Foundation – $75,000
The Academy of the New Church is an “accredited, faith-based private, day and boarding high school” in Bryn Athyn, according to their website. Queen of Angels Regional Catholic School is a Willow Grove-based school serving grades PK-8. Valley Christian School Foundation is a Huntingdon Valley-based nonprofit supporting the Valley Christian School. Saint Albert the Great Catholic School is located in Huntingdon Valley, and The Montessori School is a Dresher-based elementary school.
“Our kids’ safety and wellbeing are at the front of our minds when we send them off to school each day,” Senator Collett said. “These grants will allow local schools to purchase equipment and fund the mental health services they need to ensure a comprehensive, high-quality approach to school safety.”
The Targeted School Safety and Security Grant for Nonpublic Schools are available to nonpublic schools to address school violence or enhance school security. 353 projects were approved for a total of $19.4 million.
