Kristine Jones of Glenside launched Bistro Springhouse in March.
The new business is a series of hands-on, mobile culinary workshops for beginners, families, and groups. Sessions can be for private events, team-building experiences, or community gatherings.
A graphic designer by trade, Jones works as a part-time deli clerk at Giuliano’s Deli in Glenside, which she has been renting out once a month for her workshops.
“There’s no brick and mortar. I travel around to local businesses,” Jones said. “My workshops at Giuliano’s have been a success—the April 26 workshop sold out. I also worked with The Dovetail and CO-Lab as my pilot. That sold out, too, and gave me the motivation to finally open up an LLC.”

A “Flour + Water Pasta Workshop” is scheduled for Saturday, May 30 at Giuliano’s Deli. Jones said all registrations are for a minimum of two people to encourage a community feel.
“I’ve gotten great feedback and touch points about who to work with next. I’m a big fan of the Glenside Farmers Market. There’s a whole world out there with vegetables and ideas, and I think a lot of people are interested in food-related activities,” she said.
Jones works sans kitchen and said she is looking to partner with local churches, restaurants, delis, and “anyone who has a space I can use that can fit 10-16 people.”

Bistro Springhouse is also available to host workshops for private parties, including birthdays, bachelorettes, and graduations.
A resident of Cheltenham Township since 2010, Jones has two children in the Cheltenham School District.
