Abington Senior High School principal placed on administrative leave following allegations of ‘inappropriate’ social media posts

Dr. Alice Swift, principal of Abington Senior High School, has been placed on administrative leave following allegations of inappropriate social media posts.

An administration update sent this morning said that district officials are investigating the matter. Mr. Ronald Brison, assistant principal, will “provide leadership and support at the high school to ensure a continuity of operations and a stable learning environment for students.”

“We understand that any change in school leadership, even if temporary, can raise concerns, and we appreciate your patience and partnership as we navigate this situation,” the update said.

District officials emailed Glenside Local the following statement from superintendent Dr. Jeffrey Fecher:

The Abington School District administration received allegations of inappropriate social media posts made by the Abington Senior High School Principal, Dr. Alice Swift. Dr. Swift has been placed on administrative leave pending the outcome of an investigation. The administration has support in place at the high school to ensure continuity of operations and a stable learning environment for students.

As this is a personnel matter, the District is unable to provide further information at this time. We will share additional updates regarding Dr. Swift’s return as more information becomes available.

The email notes that “This is not related to yesterday’s student walkout”, referencing the student-organized anti-Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) walkout on Wednesday, February 11.

Dr. Swift, a 1983 graduate of Abington Senior High School, began her current role on January 30, 2024.
