Abrams Realty of Elkins Park to demolish, redevelop Berkshire Mall in Reading

Abrams Realty & Development of Elkins Park (Cheltenham Township) is under contract to purchase the 59-acre property Berkshire Mall in the Wyomissing section of Berks County, The Philadelphia Business Journal reported.

According to their coverage, Abrams Realty plans to demolish most of the 55-year-old shopping center and develop new retail space.

The nearly half vacant property has fallen into disrepair in recent years and was most recently assessed for $5.1 million, The Journal said.

“We are very bullish on putting a great tenant lineup together and bringing this one back to its glory days with new best-in-class retailers,” Peter Abrams, owner of Abrams Realty, said in a statement.

In related news, Abrams Realty said last month that their Exton Square Mall redevelopment is expected to begin in late spring 2026.
