Man accused of beating, kicking a woman during Jenkintown road rage incident denied reduced sentence

Charles Clifton Woodson, 40, of Philadelphia, who was previously sentenced up to 15 years in prison for the assault of a woman during a road rage incident in Jenkintown, was denied his request for a reduced sentence after winning an appeal to a state court, Mainline Media News reported.

The altercation took place at 10:00am on December 16, 2021 in the 500 block of York Road and was witnessed by civilians and recorded by surveillance cameras in the area.

Prosecutors said Woodson and Wingfield got out of their vehicle and dragged the female victim from her car before beating and kicking her repeatedly. Arriving officers found the female victim unconscious and suffering from injuries to her face, head and other areas of her body, according to police.

Woodson and Wingfield then got back into the pickup truck, which had no license plate, and fled the scene by driving onto a sidewalk to go around the stopped traffic and travel northbound on York Road, according to police.

“I did a bad thing. But I’m not a bad person. I realize I made a mistake. I’m sorry for my actions,” said Woodson.

Woodson’s co-defendant, September Leo Wingfield, 29, also of Philadelphia, pleaded guilty to an identical charge and was sentenced to three to six years.
