Abington Township looking to purchase, repurpose commercial building on Easton Rd.

Abington Township is looking to purchase the building at 1170 Easton Road and convert it to public use.

Earlier this week, the co-owners of The Clean Plate Club, which currently inhabits the building, said in a post that the township is acquiring the property by eminent domain with plans to demolish.

Township manager Chris Christman told Glenside Local that’s not quite the case.

“The Township is not using eminent domain power to acquire this property. We are actively working through the negotiation process with an intent to purchase,” he said. “As far as the future use of that property, it has yet to be fully determined, but it will open for public use.”

More to come.
