Jenkintown, Abington, and Lower Moreland schools have been honored with the Best Communities for Music Education designation from The NAMM Foundation for their outstanding commitment and access to music education.

“The award program recognizes and celebrates outstanding efforts by teachers, administrators, parents, students and community leaders who have made music education part of a well-rounded education.  Designations are made to districts and schools that demonstrate an exceptionally high commitment and access to music education,” NAMM’s website says.

This is Jenkintown School District’s first-ever designation. Lower Moreland School District has received the award 11 times, Abington School District 13 times. The award is in its 25th year.

These districts were three of 975 to receive the award. 

In related news, Jenkintown School District announced its upcoming events for the year-long Jenkintown 150 celebration.

A Homecoming Parade will take place on Friday, October 25, before the start of the football game, and the inaugural Alumni Hall of Fame Award is accepting nominations.
