Weekend storm upgraded to nor’easter, Montco officials declare Flood Watch

Montgomery County officials have declared a Flood Watch due to the heavy rain forecasted for this weekend. Rainfall is expected to begin tonight.

The National Weather Service is predicting total rainfall of 2-4″ with the heaviest precipitation occurring Saturday late morning through the afternoon. The Philadelphia metro area will see the greatest rainfall totals, they said.

“Rainfall amounts have increased across the I-95 corridor, with higher confidence in the potential for river flooding,” the NWS said in a Facebook post.

“In addition to the heavy rain and flooding threats, this storm will also bring the potential for gusty winds, coastal flooding, and dangerous marine conditions. See the matrix below for the key points and impacts,” the post said.
