With summer just around the corner, township officials have announced the opening dates for swimming pools in our area.
Abington Township
Crestmont and Penbryn pools are scheduled to open on Saturdays and Sundays beginning Saturday, May 25, and for daily use beginning Saturday, June 22.
The pools will remain open through Labor Day, September 2. The daily hours of operation are as follows:
- May 25 – 27, June 1 – 2, June 8 – 9, June 15 – 16: 12 PM – 7 PM
- June 22 – August 18: 11 AM – 9 PM
- August 19 – September 1: 11 AM – 8 PM
- September 2: 11 AM – 5 PM
The township also noted that the Alverthorpe wading pool opens on June 15. The hours of operation are from 11:00am to 5:00pm daily.

Cheltenham Township
Cheltenham Township’s Glenside Pool will open Saturday, May 25.
The Charles D. Conklin, Jr. Pool will open Saturday, June 15, the township said.
Membership is open to Cheltenham Township residents only and permits access to both pools. Non-resident guests must be accompanied by a passholder.
Pool Season:
12:00pm – 8:00pm Monday through Sunday
12:00pm – 5:00pm Holiday Hours (Memorial Day, Independence Day and Labor Day)
Both pools will be closed from August 26-30, and will be open August 31, September 1, and September 2nd for Labor Day Weekend. Both pools will be closed for the season as of September 3.
