Ziyafat Restaurant to take over former Sam’s Gourmet Pizza in Wyncote

Ms. Pinky Nausheen, former owner and operator of Monsalva Cuisine in Jenkintown, will be opening Ziyafat Restaurant at 835 Glenside Avenue Suite 103, Wyncote, the location of the former Sam’s Gourmet Pizza.

Ms. Nausheen said the restaurant’s offerings will strongly resemble those of Monsalva: Pakistani/Indian-style food with a twist. ‘Ziyafat’ roughly translates to ‘the feast’ in Urdu, the lingua franca of Pakistan.

“We’ll be doing a fusion, and we’ll have pizzas as well,” Nausheen said. “We will also have mango lassi, juices, Pakistani-style lemonade, and traditional drinks like these. We’re operating under the same management with a new location.”

Ziyafat’s permits are mostly in hand, and Nausheen said they may be cleared to open after Cheltenham Township’s fire marshal conducts a final inspection.

“I’m hoping positively that I’ll have the permit by the end of this week,” she said.

With Monsalva’s closure in the not-too-distant past, Nausheen is excited to be back in greater Glenside.

“We wanted to stay in the area because we live close by. People really liked Monsalva’s food, so when this place came in front of me after eight months of searching, I felt lucky,” she said. “I didn’t see any other restaurants with our style in the area.”

The restaurant will offer online takeout and will house about five indoor tables with roughly 20 seats.

We will be in touch with a grand opening date. Stay tuned.
