Woman pleads guilty to aggravated assault with vehicle outside Cheltenham restaurant, sentenced 3.5-7 years

India G. Vera, 23, of Philadelphia, was sentenced to 3½ to 7 years in prison after pleading guilty to striking and injuring a woman with her vehicle after an argument at a Cheltenham Township restaurant on August 26, 2024, Mainline Media News reported.

Vera received a felony charge for the aggravated assault.

Officers dispatched to the Five Below on Cheltenham Avenue found a Ford Fusion vehicle on the sidewalk with heavy damage. The injured female pedestrian was found lying in bushes at the front of the store. She was transported to a local hospital for treatment of injuries, police said.

Witnesses who worked at the restaurant told police that Vera entered the restaurant and approached the victim.

Video surveillance footage showed Vera immediately approaching the victim where she began a fight before being removed by staff, Mainline Media said. Vera missed the victim and took a turn to exit the parking lot but instead drove over a curb and down an embankment. She then drove toward the same curb, jumped the curb a second time, and struck the victim.

“Vera drove with (the victim) on the hood of the car across the roadway and into the side of the (Five Below). (The victim) then flew off of the vehicle and into the bushes,” police said.
