Hatboro officials announced today that the West Moreland Avenue Bridge is expected to reopen in early November.
The borough has not been provided with an exact reopening date, though the county has indicated that the project is currently running approximately 14 months ahead of schedule. The project was expected to be completed by December 2027, according to a previous county notice.
Demolition of the former bridge began in January. In August, contractor H&K Group, Inc. announced that a 60-yard concrete pour was completed. Fourteen beams were set a few weeks prior to the deck pour.
The bridge passes over the Pennypack Creek and is located on West Moreland Avenue between Flamingo Road (Upper Moreland) and Broad Street (Hatboro).
“Please keep in mind that there is still the potential for unforeseen delays,” the borough said in a post. “As we approach the end of paving season, weather conditions could impact the remaining work.”
The post noted that the following items must be completed prior to reopening the roadway:
- Paving
- Line striping
- Guide rail installation
- Barrier wall railing installation
- Signage installation
“This is tremendous news for our community, and we are very pleased to see the project progressing ahead of schedule. We appreciate everyone’s patience throughout the construction process and look forward to reopening this important roadway connection,” the post said.
