Upper Moreland Township municipal building renovations to begin June 1, completion set for October 2027

Upper Moreland Township announced today that its board of commissioners has approved and awarded the longstanding township building renovation project.

In 2022, the township was awarded $2,850,000 in state grant funding for the project from Pennsylvania’s Redevelopment Assistance Capital Program (RACP). The building currently houses both the police department and township management. The project includes the construction of a separate, state-of-the-art police station on the property.

During the renovations, the township will be relocating to the Willowood Building, 2510 Maryland Road, Suite 250, located within the Abington-Jefferson Health Campus. According to the notice, work will begin on Monday, June 1 and is scheduled to be completed October 31, 2027.

From the notice:

All administrative offices will be closed Friday, May 29, to facilitate the move. Beginning Monday, June 1, the administrative offices will open at our new location. The Upper Moreland Police Department will remain at our current 117 Park Avenue address through Sunday, June 14. Beginning Monday, June 15, UMPD will also be located in the Willowood Building, Suite 250. Fire Marshal Services will be located at the Fire Station, 227 Davisville Road, Willow Grove.

The project includes a complete renovation of the existing space and expansions to administration offices and the police station, as well as parking improvements. This project has been considered and discussed for several years at our Board of Commissioners Committee and Regular Meetings. The renovated building will allow for much needed expansion, enhanced public and staff safety, Americans with Disabilities access improvements, improved community access, improved way finding, and other necessary improvements.

Additional information will be shared as it becomes available, the notice said.
