Upper Moreland man charged with murder of snoring neighbor pleads ‘not guilty’, requests bail reduction

Christopher Casey, 55 of the 300 block of Fitch Drive in the Hatboro section of Upper Moreland Township, is seeking a bail reduction after entering not guilty pleas to charges of third-degree murder, voluntary manslaughter and possessing an instrument of crime in connection with the alleged stabbing of his next-door neighbor, 62-year-old Robert Wallace, on January 14, The Pottstown Mercury reported.

Casey remains in Montgomery County jail in lieu of $1 million cash bail while awaiting trial.

His attorney filed a petition for the reduction in part because “(Casey) is not a flight risk, and has an intellectual/learning disability. (Casey) has extensive family ties in Montgomery County and is a lifelong resident.”

The attorney did not elaborate on the nature of Casey’s alleged intellectual or learning disability in court papers.
