Three roads in Jenkintown temporarily closed for fallen tree removal, special curbside collection of tree debris on July 1

Jenkintown officials announced early this afternoon that three roads in the borough are or were temporarily closed to traffic so that fallen trees can be safely removed: Rydal Road (Vernon to Newbold), Newbold Road (Rydal to Homestead), and Rodman Avenue (Elm to Linda Vista).

The borough also said that the Public Works Department will be performing a special curbside collection of tree branches and limbs on Monday, July 1. The special collection will not affect regularly scheduled curbside collection of yard waste and debris on Tuesday, July 2, officials said.

From their announcement:

Tree limbs and branches can be placed curbside for collection, they will need to be cut no longer than 4 feet in length and should not be larger than 4 inches in diameter so they can safely fit and be compacted in the Borough Truck/Compactor. If unmanageable, the branches will need to be bundled and tied so the workers can safely place them in the compactor. The yard waste should be placed in biodegradable bags to ensure pickup.

Residents are invited to call the borough with questions at (215) 885 -0700.
