Local historian Chuck Langerman has highlighted the current professional statuses of three Cheltenham alumni:
Bob Staples (above left)
Staples, a 1980 graduate and dog trainer extraordinaire, has retired after 42 years of teaching thousands of dog owners how to train and care for their dogs. Effective December 31, 2024, Bob’s Pet Stop in central Bucks County in Wrightstown is closed.
Staples was involved with behavior consulting and diagnosing aggression disorders and canine fear, working with therapy dogs and dogs for the deaf, and companion dog training. He also did in-home dog training in Bucks and Montgomery Counties and Virtual Dog Training lessons for clients who were not in the travel area.
Dr. Beryl Sandler Brown (above middle)
Dr. Brown, a 1983 graduate, has been recognized by Coastal Virginia Magazine as one of the top breast surgeons in Virginia.
The Glenside native matriculated at the University of Richmond where she majored in Music and Pre-Med. She received her medical degree from Eastern Virginia Medical School in 1991 and completed her general surgery residency in 1996 at Eastern Virginia Graduate School of Medicine.
At Cheltenham High, she was a National Honor Society student, a member of the orchestra, concert, and marching bands, and a member of the Panthers’ softball team.
Jason Cornelison (above right)

Cornelison, a 2019 grad, works for the Voith and Mactavish Architectural Firm in Philadelphia as a Visual Communications Coordinator where he is involved in developing and enforcing the firm’s visual communications standards.
He earned his undergraduate architecture degree from the University of Pennsylvania in 2023 and was the recipient of the “Mike Berry Scholarship Award” as a senior at Cheltenham High. The scholarship award is in honor of 1980 CHS graduate Mike Berry, one of the greatest harriers in school history.
Cornelison was also a two-time Suburban One American cross-country champion.
