The Abington Township Police Department announced today that officers responded to the 1800 block of Preston Avenue on Thursday, June 26 at approximately 2:48am for a report of attempted theft from vehicles.

During a check of the area, officers discovered that numerous vehicles had been entered between Moreland Road and Phipps Avenue. The suspect(s) may have attempted to steal one of the vehicles but could not operate the manual transmission, the department said.

The suspect and the co-conspirator were stopped along Moreland Road and were found in possession of identifiable items taken from multiple vehicles in the area, including a loaded 9mm Springfield Hellcat pistol, police said. They were arrested and arraigned.
