The Goddard School of Huntingdon Valley, which serves children ages 6 weeks through kindergarten, has earned accreditation from the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC), the world’s largest organization working on behalf of young children.
NAEYC accreditation is a quality-improvement system that uses a set of 10 research-based standards to improve outcomes.
“We’re so proud to have earned this mark of distinction from NAEYC and to be recognized for our commitment to reaching the highest professional standards in early childhood education,” said Katie Grau, director of The Goddard School of Huntingdon Valley. “This accomplishment not only validates our efforts but also reaffirms our mission to provide the best possible educational experience for the children in our care.”
To earn NAEYC Accreditation, the school went through an extensive self-study and quality-improvement process, followed by an on-site visit by NAEYC assessors to verify and ensure that the program met each of the ten program standards. In the 30 years NAEYC accreditation has been established, it has become a widely recognized sign of high-quality early childhood education. More than 6,000 programs are currently accredited by NAEYC—less than 10 percent of all childcare centers, preschools, and kindergartens nationally have achieved this recognition.
“NAEYC accredited programs have committed to a process that takes time, energy and dedication to complete” said Alissa Mwenelupembe, NAEYC Senior Director of Early Learning Program Accreditation. “The Goddard School of Huntingdon Valley has demonstrated their commitment to young children and their families.”
Earlier this year, the school also received the highest recognition of Pennsylvania’s Department of Education state accreditation for early learning programs as a STAR 4 and was named to The Goddard School’s Circle of Excellence and President’s Club.
