St. Luke’s of Glenside to host ‘Relics of Saint Padre Pio’ on Oct. 6, Designer Bag Bingo Oct. 9

Next week is a big one at St. Luke the Evangelist Church, 2316 Fairhill Ave., with a free day of prayer on Tuesday and a night of fun and fundraising on Friday. Both events are open to the community.

Tuesday, October 6: Relics of Saint Padre Pio

St. Luke’s is honored to host The National Centre for Padre Pio and the relics of Saint Padre Pio for “a day of prayer and grace for all.” The event is free and open to the public. Veneration begins at 12 PM and continues until 8 PM. Presentations on the life and legacy of the beloved Capuchin friar will be offered at 1 PM, 3 PM, and 6 PM. The day concludes with Mass and a final veneration at 7 PM.

Saint Padre Pio (1887-1968) is remembered for his devotion to prayer, the Mass, and the sacrament of Reconciliation, and for his compassion for those who suffer. Visitors are welcome to come for any part of the day and to bring family, friends, and their prayer intentions. https://stlukeglenside.org/

Friday, October 9: Designer Bag Bingo

On Friday evening, the St. Luke Catholic School Home and School Association will host its Designer Bag Bingo in Father Fitzpatrick Hall. Players will compete for designer handbags from brands including Tory Burch, Kate Spade, Coach, Marc Jacobs, and Michael Kors. The night also features a 50/50 drawing and raffle baskets.

Doors open at 6:30 PM and bingo begins at 7:00 PM. Guests are welcome to bring their own food and drinks. Tickets are $35 each, or $320 for a table of 10. Groups of five or more can arrange to be seated together. Proceeds benefit school improvements, including technology updates, educational resources, and facility updates for the students.
