SPS Technologies releases two-phase demolition and air monitoring plans, work to continue through November

SPS Technologies in Jenkintown has released an overview of its demolition and air monitoring plans.

The demolition phase is expected to begin “on or after May 19”, according to their initial announcement on May 10.

According to the overview, an “Above grade phase” will continue through September, at which point the “Below grade phase” will begin and continue through November.

Crews’ weekly work schedule is expected to be Monday through Friday from 7:00am until 5:00pm, and Saturday from 7:00am until 3:30pm.

10 air monitoring stations will “assess potential impacts to air quality resulting from demolition activities at the site,” the overview said. “Continuous monitoring will be conducted along the perimeter of the site and within the community for particulate matter as respirable dust; 24 hours a day, seven (7) days a week. The continuous air monitors used will notify SPS and contractors conducting the work at predefined action levels, providing an early notification to project management that additional suppression measures or pausing of work may be needed.”

A partial demolition began on February 20, three days after the fire broke out.
