Sydney Palmer, 30, a former softball team coach from Bucks County, was sentenced to one year of probation on a misdemeanor charge of indecent assault in connection with incidents that occurred in Abington Township between August 2020 and February 2023 with a girl who was between 14- and 16-years-old, The Reporter said.
She also faces a 15-year requirement to report her address to state police in order to comply with the state’s Sexual Offender Registration and Notification Act, previously known as Megan’s Law.
Palmer pleaded no contest to the charges in April.
The investigation began in February 2023 when Abington police received a ChildLine report regarding an inappropriate relationship between a 16-year-old girl and her travel softball team coach named “Syd.” According to the report, Palmer and the girl “had been on and off dating for the last two years”.
The victim’s parents confronted Palmer during that time, though she denied anything inappropriate had occurred. Investigators found the girl’s cellphone had “a large amount of video calls” with Palmer and a photo of them kissing, and a review of Palmer’s Instagram account revealed messages between Palmer and the girl, including messages in which the girl informed Palmer that her mother found messages between them on her phone in October 2021.
