Montgomery County SAFER Notifications recently announced that severe thunderstorms are possible across our area this afternoon and evening. 

Excessive rainfall rates could result in localized flash flooding, especially in urban areas and other low-lying and flood-prone locations.

The expected timing of the severe thunderstorms based on the National Weather Service is between 3:00pm and 9:00pm.

Damaging wind gusts of 60+mph and large hail are possible, which would likely damage trees and power lines. Storms should produce frequent cloud to ground lightning. Tornado potential is low.

• Safety measures in the event of a power outage: There is always the possibility of a power outage due to the high winds that accompany a storm.  If you use a power generator, please make sure the generator is located outside in the open air for proper ventilation.  Any portable heaters or candles that may be used in the event of a power outage should not be located near anything flammable.
• Public Works: Public Works has prepared for the storm and will be on-call through out. The Jenkintown Borough Public Works Department have cleared inlets and put signs up around areas where flash flooding is expected.  Please be aware of your surroundings and adhere to the NO PARKING signs located in expected FLASH FLOOD areas.   
• PECO: Customers experiencing any issues should contact PECO at 1-800-841-4141, peco.com or PECO Smart Mobile On-the-Go, the company’s mobile enhanced website. PECO has announced that they have manned their emergency response centers in case of power outages.
