Jenkintown Borough and Abington Township officials announced that Washington Lane will be closed between Vernon Road and Greenwood Avenue beginning today through Friday for the installation of underground stormwater crossings.

This multi-municipal project is intended to improve stormwater run-off, pedestrian safety/walkability and traffic controls in the area.

In related news, the Lower Moreland Township Police Department announced that construction on the Byberry Road railroad grade will take place from 9:00am – 3:00pm on Friday, August 23 through Monday, August 26.

During that time, Byberry Road will be closed to thru-traffic in the area of Philmont, Pine, and Tomlinson roads and Philmont Avenue in Huntingdon Valley.

“Detours in that area will result in additional traffic in Lower Moreland Township,” the department said in a post. “Please be patient and be prepared for delays due to the detours.”
