Sean Snyder, Jenkintown baseball coach, husband, and Lower Moreland grad, has passed away

Sean Snyder, a 2008 graduate of Lower Moreland High School who served as Jenkintown High School’s assistant baseball coach in recent years, passed away on Friday, March 22. He was 33 years old.

According to a social media post written by his wife, Helen, his death was unexpected.

He was described as “so much more than just a coach. He was a fan, role model, mentor, and a friend to so many of his players and their families” in the post.

Snyder was also an Eagle Scout, a talented baseball pitcher, and a private pitching coach. He spent his summers as the Head Coach for the Jenkintown Angels Legion Baseball Team, his obituary said.

“He was a loving and caring husband, thoughtful brother, devoted son and a wonderful friend, coach and fraternity brother. Sean was very active in Boy Scouts, Jewish Scouting and he achieved the rank of Eagle Scout,” his obituary said.

It is with a heavy heart that I share the message below. Coach Sean Snyder was so much more than just a coach. He was a fan, role model, mentor, and a friend to so many of his players and their families. He not only showed up for practices and games, he attended many other special events that involved his players. He valued his relationships with his players and their families. He was always upbeat and positive no matter what the scoreboard read. If things weren’t going well he would simply say, “So what”. He taught his players that winning wasn’t everything. Giving your best effort and being a good teammate and person was what mattered most. He will forever be remembered as a special member of the Jenkintown Drakes Family💙⚾️💔

It is with a heavy, broken heart and with great sadness that I am making this post. My husband, Sean Snyder, died unexpectedly yesterday. He had been struggling with job issues and other inner personal matters. This has been an incredibly difficult past 6 months with losing my father and now my beloved husband. He was a wonderful man, a caring son, a gifted and talented teacher and coach and an overall mensch.
