Richard A. Roatch, longtime member and former Chief of Abington Fire Company, has passed away

Richard Andrew Roatch, a longtime member and former Chief of the Abington Fire Company, died on Saturday, March 2, at his home surrounded by family. He was 91 years old.

Mr. Roatch graduated from Abington High School in 1950 and attended Penn State University (Ogontz), his obituary said.

He was married to Sandra Hibbs Roatch for 58 years and served in the United States Navy as a Seabee from 1951 to 1955, during which time he was stationed in Africa and Cuba.

Mr. Roatch was a member of the Abington Fire Company since 1952, serving as Fire Chief for 28 years, and a member of the International Association of Fire Chiefs since 1959, according to his obituary.

Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30am on Saturday, March 16 at Our Lady Help of Christian Church, 1500 Marian Road, Abington, where family and friends will be received from 9:30 to 10:20am.
