Press Release:
The Old York Road Historical Society will host “The Many Bells of Independence Hall” on April 8 in The John Barnes Room at Abington Friends Meeting, 520 Meetinghouse Road, Jenkintown.
Join us as Independence National Historic Park volunteer Ranger Jeffrey Hill talks about the various bells that hung at Independence Hall from the earliest “Province Bell” to the “Centennial Bell” that hangs in the tower today. The “Liberty Bell” was bell number four. Each bell has a unique and interesting story, with many of the bells used in various historical events that contributed to the overall significance of Independence Hall.
