‘No Kings’ protest officially recognized in Hatboro on Oct. 18, Cheltenham Immigration Response plans rally at Glenside station, says Public Safety Committee’s welcome policy doesn’t go far enough

A “No Kings” protest at South York Road & Lehman Avenue in Hatboro is now officially recognized on nokings.org.

The rally will be held from 4:00pm – 6:00pm on Saturday, October 18. You can RSVP here.

Cheltenham Immigration Response, an informal group of Cheltenham Township residents, is also planning a “No Kings” rally at 9:45am on Saturday at the Glenside train station prior to the Philadelphia rally at noon

“One of our speakers will speak about judicial retention, but we’ll be mostly keeping it to the issue of immigration,” organizer Tom Petersen said.

A “No Kings” protest was previously scheduled at the Jenkintown Borough pavilion in Town Square on Saturday, October 18 at 1:00pm. The policy request:

The October 15 Public Safety Committee agenda includes a two-page resolution relating to immigrant rights in the township. It can be found on page 25 below:

“The Cheltenham Immigration Response group is still reviewing the Public Safety Committee resolution, however, at least from our perspective, the Commissioner’s draft resolution does not go far enough,” Petersen said. “We’ll be attending that meeting and entering into additional dialogue about these competing proposals. The results of that meeting will impact what we say on Saturday.”

The township’s Board of Commissioners are expected to vote on the policy at their October 22 meeting.
