The coming Chik-fil-A at 3001 Cheltenham Avenue in Cedarbrook Plaza will go before the Cheltenham Township Board of Commissioners on Wednesday, December 20 for conditional approval of their land development.
The new restaurant will take over the former Houlihan’s and Golden Corral Buffet & Grill.
A Chik-Fil-A already exists just down the road at 2421 Cheltenham Avenue. According to Henry Sekawungu, Cheltenham’s Director of Planning and Zoning, the additional franchise is intended to take some pressure off of the existing franchise, which has been seeing an influx of customers.
“They’ll be tearing down that building,” Sekawungu said. “They still need to resolve a few things, and at the meeting they’ll be discussing traffic backup. They’ve been in touch with the City of Philadelphia to adjust the traffic light timing. It’s been getting backed up.”
The restaurant’s completion is anticipated by the end of 2024. For more on the franchise’s proposal, you can click here.
The 2421 Cheltenham Avenue franchise is wrapping up their drive thru application, Sekawungu said.
