MuttHaviorist Dog Training & Canine Rehabilitation of Jenkintown: Professionally certified, behaviorally experienced

Daniel Isaacsohn of Jenkintown founded MuttHaviorist Dog Training & Canine Rehabilitation a little over three years ago.

With 15-plus years of experience, Isaacsohn is certified as a behaviorist and a professional trainer, which he says is a rare combination in the industry.

All of MuttHaviorist’s in-home dog training and rehabilitation services—which include “everything from potty training to aggression,” according to Isaacsohn—take place at people’s homes an hour from Jenkintown in all directions.

“Those certifications are the industry’s gold standard, and I just happen to live in town. There’s nothing I haven’t done with dogs. I work with all dogs, all breeds, all sizes. There’s no issue I don’t work with,” he said. “I get into the weeds and I’m very hands-on.”

Isaacsohn got his start in the business through Magellan, an Alaskan Malamute he adopted while living abroad. After taking Magellan under his wing, Isaacsohn flew back to the United States where his fascination with canine behavior reached new heights.

He began volunteering at a shelter in Boston, which led to training dogs at PetSmart.

“After a short while, it became clear that I found what I was supposed to be doing with my life,” his website says. “I chose the Certification Council of Professional Dog Trainers to pursue my certification to work with dogs.”

He became certified as a Certified Professional Dog Trainer – Knowledge Assessed in October 2017 and Certified Behavior Consultant Canine – Knowledge Assessed in May 2021. He’s also worked at an inner-city Philadelphia shelter as a canine behaviorist and as a veterinary trainer and behaviorist at a veterinary hospital.

While serving greater Glenside and beyond, Isaacsohn has accrued nearly thirteen thousand hours of training in group and private settings, shelter and veterinary situations, and many other environments.

“Our training is positive reinforcement based. I also do dog training for humans as well. I’m very open and honest with people. I love what I do, and all I want to do is help dogs and their owners live better lives,” he said. “I’ve tried to learn as much as I possibly can through books, experience, and everything in between.”

Isaacsohn points out that MuttHaviorist’s turnaround time is quicker than that of a veterinary behaviorist.

“My waitlist is much shorter, roughly a couple weeks,” he said.
