Multiple fire crews dispatched to Abington Smoke Shop, Korman apartments, Meadowbrook apartments for building fires

Multiple firefighting crews were dispatched on Saturday, February 24 for a commercial building fire at Abington Smoke Shop in the Roslyn section of Abington Township.

According to Emergency Alerts of Southeastern Pennsylvania, the fire was caused by a dryer in Apartment 44 on the second floor of 1342 Easton Road and was quickly extinguished.

The following crews were dispatched the scene:

ENGINE 500, SQUAD 500, TOWER 500, SQUAD 100, LADDER 100, ENGINE 302, RESCUE 300, ENGINE 400, ENGINE 88-1, SQUAD 10, QUINT 99

Crews were also dispatched yesterday for a fire at Korman Residential Apartments, 1700 Huntingdon Pike in Abington Township.

According to Emergency Alerts of Southeastern Pennsylvania, the following crews were on scene:

ENGINE 200, SQUAD 200, QUINT 200, RESCUE 300, LADDER 100, SQUAD 100, ENGINE 400, ENGINE 500, ENGINE 8

Lastly, McKinley Fire Company of Elkins Park dispatched Squad and Quint 200 on Saturday for a fire alarm at the leasing office/recreation center of Meadowbrook Apartments in Huntingdon Valley.

Abington police reported a smoke condition in the lower-level gym area and the response was upgraded to bring additional units, officials said.

Squad 200’s crew joined the Abington Assistant Fire Marshal to confirm an active fire in the walls. A hand line was used to taper the fire without extension to other parts of the building.

Additional crews stretched a precautionary second line to the floor above and performed ventilation and searches.
