Mr. Tom Cleighton, Roslyn resident, youth referee/coach, and former ranger at Alverthorpe Park, has passed away at 67

Mr. Thomas Francis Cleighton, an Elkins Park native and resident of Roslyn, peacefully passed away on Sunday, November 24 surrounded by his wife and children. He was 67 years old.

Mr. Cleighton was a loyal “bread man” for Stroehmann Bread for nearly 30 years and regularly referred local field hockey and lacrosse games. He also coached youth basketball, softball, and baseball and served as an assistant with the women’s basketball team at Gwynedd Mercy University for 10 years, his obituary said.

After retiring from Stroehmann, Mr. Cleighton was a park ranger at Alverthope Park for five years, his obituary said.

Family and friends are invited to his Life Celebration on Monday, December 2 from 6:00pm – 8:00pm and again on Tuesday, December 3 from 10:00am – 11:30am at Craft Givnish Funeral Home, 1801 Old York Road, Abington. His funeral service will follow at 11:30am with a luncheon to follow.
