Mosquito spraying for West Nile Virus in Abington this week

The Montgomery County Department of Health and Human Services, Office of Public Health (OPH) will be adulticiding (spraying) to control the adult mosquito population in selected areas of Abington, weather permitting, on Wednesday, August 25, 2021, from approximately 8:30 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. The spraying will be done where sampling by the OPH and PADP has shown mosquitoes that carry the West Nile Virus (WNV). For notification of any future spray events, sign up with the County’s emergency notification system, ReadyMontco.

The alternate date will be Tuesday, August 31, 2021. All areas within the highlighted section of the map shown will be subjected to the spray. Spraying will occur in the area along W. Moreland Road (PA 63) and Old Welsh Road between Sunnycrest Road and Preston Ave. Residents within the spray area should consider remaining indoors, closing windows and turning off ventilation systems that draw in outside air for the duration of the spray plus 30 minutes afterward.
