Montgomery Montessori School in Huntingdon Valley has been operating out of Bryn Athyn College since November 2024 due to a building fire and flooding from a storm, NBC10 reported.

The November 14 roof fire temporarily shut down Pine Road between Moreland Road and Moredon Road. No injuries were reported.

Director Karen Slifer said she notified local officials of the move, but lost her certificate of compliance and license because she did not inform the state.

According to NBC10, the Department of Human Services said it never revoked the license or shut down the school, but it did issue a cease and desist and wrote that the school can continue to operate while it makes an appeal.

Slifer said she was told that the school would not have insurance if it reopened.
