Montgomery County Now Scheduling Booster Shots for Pfizer COVID-19 Vaccine

The Montgomery County Office of Public Health is now scheduling booster shots for the Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine, per an announcement today. This announcement follows the recent FDA and CDC approval. The booster is for people who are at highest risk for COVID-19 and have already received a first and second dose of the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine.

Here is the entire list of those who are able to receive the shot per the Montgomery County Office of Public Health:

  • People 65 years and older and residents in long-term care settings should receive a booster shot of Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine at least 6 months after receiving the second dose of Pfizer vaccine,
  • People ages 50–64 years with underlying medical conditions should receive a booster shot of Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine at least 6 months after receiving the second dose of Pfizer vaccine,
  • People ages 18–49 years with underlying medical conditions may receive a booster shot of Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine at least 6 months after receiving the second dose of Pfizer vaccine, based on their individual benefits and risks, and
  • People ages 18-64 years who are at increased risk for COVID-19 exposure and transmission because of occupational or institutional setting may receive a booster shot of Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine at least 6 months after receiving the second dose of Pfizer vaccine, based on their individual benefits and risks.

You must have an appointment for a booster of the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine at Montgomery County vaccination clinics. If you plan on attending a County-run clinic for a booster dose of Pfizer, you must bring your CDC vaccination card or a picture of their card on their phone. Individuals must also sign a self-attestation form to receive a booster dose of the Pfizer vaccine.

Appointments will begin Monday, September 27 and can be made by visiting www.montcopa.org/COVID-19Vaccine. The vaccine is no cost.

Residents attending a County-run clinic for a booster dose of Pfizer must bring their CDC vaccination card or a picture of their card on their phone. If they have lost their vaccination card, they should call one of our three health centers for assistance:

So far, boosters have been approved for Pfizer vaccine only.
