Montco controller to resign and take over as Abington Township’s new tax collector, applications to fill the vacancy now open

Montgomery County’s controller, Karen Geld Sanchez, will formally resign from her post on January 1, 2025, to assume her new role as Abington Township’s tax collector, the county’s Democratic Committee said in a news release.

Geld Sanchez is the wife of former Abington Township commissioner Ben Sanchez and was first elected controller in 2015, re-elected in 2019 and again in 2023. In June, she was elected as president of the Pennsylvania State Association of County Controllers. More information about her can be found on this website.


The committee is accepting applications to fill the vacancy until Monday, December 23 at 12:00pm. For details, you can click here. Interviews will take place between December 26 and January 5.
