Bibi Afridi opened BFF Sweets & Treats, a new candy shop in Keswick Village (Abington Township), in mid-November.
A Philadelphia native, Afridi said she and her business partner previously ran a candy shop in downtown Philadelphia.
“I loved seeing kids coming into the store and being happy. I decided that I wanted something like that in Keswick Village,” she said. “So far, we’ve been getting a lot of people coming in to say hello. I’m seeing a lot of new faces, especially kids.”
Afridi said she chose to open her store in Glenside after attending the annual Keswick Fall Festival in 2024.
“I love the strong sense of community in Glenside, especially Keswick Village. It’s very supportive and it made me feel like small businesses really matter here. I loved it,” she said, adding that she was able to participate again in 2025’s Fall Festival.
BFF Sweets & Treats took part in the annual Christmas in Keswick event in December.
Come summertime, Afridi said customers can expect an expansion of treats (special announcement to come) as well as in-store games. So far, the store carries a “Cut 2 Win” PS5 machine and a “Collectable Craze” machine.
“The whole back will be a mini-arcade,” Afridi said.
Among the shop’s allures are old-school candy bars, Afridi said, including Whatchamacallit, PayDay, 5th Avenue, and 100 Grand.
“Our freeze-dried candy has been our most popular item so far. We also have the gummy peelers that people like a lot. Plain old soda cans have been purchased frequently as well.”
