Desmond Malik Williams, 27, of Philadelphia, was sentenced to 11½ to 23 months in prison following a traffic stop in Abington Township in February 2024 which uncovered an illegally possessed semiautomatic Canik 9mm handgun, Mainline Media News reported.
Williams pleaded guilty to charges of carrying a firearm without a license and prohibited offensive weapon. His sentence includes 23 months of probation.
An investigation began when Abington police stopped Williams’ Buick Lucerne in the 1400 block of Old York Road. Officers found the firearm loaded with 18 rounds in an extended magazine and one round in the chamber and a second magazine loaded with 12 rounds, police alleged.
“The vehicle’s side, rear and front windshield were tinted so dark that I was unable to see into the interior of the vehicle at all,” Abington Police Officer Daniel Burgmann alleged in the criminal complaint.
