LSCHS football coach inducted into Montgomery County Coaches Hall of Fame

Mark Schmidt, an assistant football coach at La Salle College High School in Wyndmoor, was inducted into the Montgomery County Coaches Hall of Fame last week.

Schmidt previously served as the Offensive & Defensive Line Coach for the Explorers from 2014-’15. He has been named Coach of the Year by the Pennsylvania State Football Coaches Association (AAAA), NFL/Philadelphia Eagles, American Football Monthly (Eastern region), Riddell, Schutt Air, and the Philadelphia Inquirer. He is also the only five-time Coach of the Year honoree by the Bucks County Courier Times.

NESHAMINY HIGH SCHOOL, Head Football Coach, 1995-2014

  • Led team to 7 District One showings, 2 Eastern Conference Championships, and school’s first-ever Pennsylvania AAAA State Championship in 2001.
  • Finished 2001 season 15-0, #7 USA Today national ranking
  • Coach of the Year, 2001 : Pennsylvania State Football Coaches Association (AAAA), NFL/Philadelphia Eagles, American Football Monthly (Eastern region), Riddell, Schutt Air, and the Philadelphia Inquirer.

2023’s induction class included Steve Chadwin (Abington Friends, Boys Basketball), Joe Parisi (La Salle College High School, Baseball), and Rick Torresani (Bishop McDevitt, Softball).

Three local sport standouts were inducted into the Pennsylvania Sports Hall of Fame Montco Chapter in mid-November.
