Lower Moreland police have received numerous reports of thefts of and from vehicles between Sept 19-20

The Lower Moreland Township Police Department announced today that it has received reports of two motor vehicle thefts and numerous reports of thefts from motor vehicles in the area of Red Lion and Pine Roads in Huntingdon Valley,

Police said the reports were received between the overnight hours on Thursday, September 19 and the morning hours of Friday, September 20.

“Officers are responding to all reports of this sort and are attempting to collect any home surveillance video from the neighborhood,” the department said in a post. “The Lower Moreland Township Police Department has increased patrols in the neighborhoods and surrounding areas. Please call 911 to report any suspicious activity, regardless of how minor it may seem.”

If you have home surveillance cameras, you can review them and report any suspicious activity to police by calling 215-947-3132.”

The department offered the following precautions to secure vehicles and property:

  • Lock your cars and your residence’s doors and windows.
  • Do not leave your keys in your vehicle, including valet keys.
  • Remove any valuables from your vehicle. It is not sufficient to just put them in your trunk, take them inside.
  • Be aware of your surroundings, not just when you are walking, but also when you are driving.
  • External lights on a residence help to deter crime.
  • Ensure surveillance and alarm systems are functioning properly and recording.
  • If you don’t have a surveillance system, consider installing one.
  • If you are going away, contact the Police Department and make a vacation notice. Officers will make checks of your residence while you are away.
  • If you see something, say something. Call 911 and report suspicious activity.
