Lower Moreland police arrest man for causing head-on collision while DUI without a license, drug possession

The Lower Moreland Police Department announced the arrest of Petro Gjini, 37, for aggravated assault by vehicle while driving under the influence, driving without a license, reckless driving, and illegal possession of a controlled substance, among other charges.

Police responded to the area of Byberry Road and Parkside Avenue in Huntingdon Valley on Friday, October 4 at 11:12am for a reported crash involving two vehicles.

Witnesses told police that a driver, later identified as Gjini, was weaving in and out of traffic and crossed the road’s center lane which led to a head-on collision.

Further investigation revealed that Gjini was driving impaired with a suspended license and was found to be in possession of drugs and drug paraphernalia.

In July, police found Gjini unconscious in his car and in possession of drugs, drug paraphernalia, and a prohibited weapon.

His new charges are listed below:
