Taryn Mayer, a Huntingdon Valley native and a rising junior member of the Shippensburg University field hockey team, has been named a 2024 Division II Academic All-District At-Large honoree.

The award honors top student-athletes for their achievements in sports and academics. Mayer, a psychology major with a 3.82 GPA, played 18 games in 2023 and scored seven goals. She was also named to the NFHCA All-Academic Squad that season.

Mayer is now eligible for the Academic All-America Women’s At-Large Team, the members of which will be announced on July 16.

At Lower Moreland High School, Mayer left the program in 2020 as its all-time scoring leader with 118 career goals. She holds the single-season scoring record and the freshman (23), sophomore (25) and junior (56) season records for the Lions. She was a two-time Bicentennial All-League First Team member, among other accolades.
