Montgomery County officials announced today that there have been 99 new positive tests for Coronavirus since yesterday. The countywide total is 2,123. The death total rose by 18 since yesterday which brings the countywide total to 109.

Locally the numbers are as follows (note that no municipal level data was provided on April 12 and April 13):

• Abington Township is at 153, which is 22 more than since April 11
  • There have been five deaths in Abington
• Cheltenham Township is at 163, which is 34 more than since April 11
  • There have been six deaths in Cheltenham
• Jenkintown is at 15, which one more than since April 11
  • There have been zero deaths in Jenkintown

In regards to long-term care facilities, 73 facilities in the county have positive cases. There are 364 cases involving residents and 223 involving staff. Just over 25% of cases in the county (587 of 2,123) involve long-term care facilities. Long-term care facilities represent 61% of the deaths from Coronavirus (67 of 109).

During the press conference, County Commissioner Val Arkoosh again mentioned that it appears for the population that utilized the testing site at Temple University’s Ambler campus that the peak was in early April. However, she stressed that the peak hasn’t happened for populations such as those in long-term care facilities (see paragraph above).
