La Salle College’s Joey O’Brien signs NIL deal with Under Armour

Joey O’Brien, a senior at La Salle College High School in Wyndmoor/Glenside, is one of six members named to Under Armour’s first NIL squad.

Under Armour announced the deal on social media on January 4. O’Brien, who led the Explorers to a PIAA 6A State Championship in the fall, signed in June with Notre Dame which has a long-term relationship with Under Armour.

The NIL squad is referred to as the “Click-Clack Class”, a reference to Under Armour’s cleats. The terms of the deal were not disclosed.

According to The Irish Tribune, O’Brien “is expected to help launch Under Armour and NIL into a new era, allowing more high school athletes to participate in similar deals.”

The other five players from the Click-Clack Class are:

  • 2026 QB Ryder Lyons – BYU (38 Natl. 5 Pos.)
  • 2026 EDGE Zion Lee – Maryland (5 Natl. 1 Pos.)
  • 2026 S Jireh Edwards – Alabama (32 Natl. 3 Pos.)
  • 2027 WR Easton Royal – Texas Tech (12 Natl. 3 Pos.)
  • 2027 WR Eric McFarland (23 Natl. 5 Pos.)

O’Brien was named a 2025 National High School All-American Team, the Pennsylvania Gatorade Player of the Year, and the MaxPreps Pennsylvania Player of the Year. He earned Philadelphia Catholic League First Team honors on both offense and defense and was named the conference’s player of the year as well.

During his senior season, O’Brien totaled 85 catches for 1,250 yards and 18 touchdowns on offense while adding 49 tackles, four interceptions, 12 passes defended, a sack and a fumble recovery on defense.
