The La Mott Community Center’s long-awaited renovations are scheduled to begin mid-October, according to Cheltenham Township’s website. Work will start no earlier than 7:30am, Monday through Friday, with Saturdays permitted if needed.
The project was released for bid in July. A ceremonial groundbreaking took place at Camp William Penn Day last month.
In September 2025, township officials unveiled schematic designs for the center, including the rendering below:

Total grant funding for the project includes:
- Federal Community Project Funding: $3,828,500
- US Department of Energy Energy Efficiency Block Grant: $76,230
- Montco Community Development Block Grants: $400,000
- PA Department of Community and Economic Development Local Shared Account: $900,000
The center closed its operations in December 2022 due to maintenance concerns with the building. Prior to its shutdown, the facility featured a full indoor basketball court, playground, a supervised summer playground program, a summer teen enrichment program, year-round indoor recreational and educational programs, senior citizen programs, various health programs, and a playing field.
