Kisses for Kyle of Willow Grove named beneficiary of Phillies outfielder’s son’s T-shirt sales

The Willow Grove-based Kisses for Kyle Foundation was recently named the beneficiary of Phillies right fielder Nick Castellanos’ 10-year-old son’s new T-shirt sales.

The Kisses For Kyle Foundation, now in its 22nd year, helps local families battling childhood cancer. Liam Castellano, who co-created the “Liam’s Battle Cry” T-shirt, revealed his charity pick on Sunday night.

According to CBS, the nonprofit sold almost 500 shirts in less than two-and-a-half hours. In its first 12 hours of sales, 1,000 were ordered.

“We took him to a Phillies game when he was battling leukemia,” Sharon Snyder, Kyle’s mother, said, “and he was a little sports kid.” Just shy of his second birthday, Kyle was diagnosed with leukemia and lost his battle months later. He would be 27 years old today.

“It’s surreal to see a lot of the players that are his age or around his age and can’t help but wonder,” Snyder told CBS. “You know, would he have been part of that?”

She said the Phillies are one of the foundation’s biggest supporters.
