Joe Conklin and the City Rhythm Orchestra are returning to the Keswick Theater in Glenside on Saturday, April 18 at 7:30pm.
This year’s event functions as a fundraiser for five parishes in the area, among those St Luke’s in Glenside. 2025’s performance served as a benefit for the Abington Police Foundation, which redirected the funds to assist the Abington Township Fire Department’s five companies (Abington, McKinley, Weldon, Edge Hill, and Roslyn).
A well-known Philadelphia sports platformer and a product of Philly’s Catholic school system, Conklin said attendees can look forward to the magic of the City Rhythm Orchestra, Philly sports humor, home movies, and five Conklins on stage.
“I’ve had a long history of tapping into my Catholic following. It’s been a win-win for a long time,” Conklin told Glenside Local. “Philly isn’t coming off of a Super Bowl this year, so there’s the frustration and then there’s the hope that we always have.”
Conklin tipped his hat to the Keswick Theater for allowing the show a second return, and to Life Celebration by Givnish for once again sponsoring the evening.
“[Manager] Judith Herbst has been overly accommodating to make sure that this event works for the community. Last year, with the police, and this year with the parishes, she couldn’t have done more for us. She helps the Keswick retain its local community feel,” he said. “John Givnish has been a big supporter of my family over the years, through the charities, golf outings, and fundraisers for many parishes. He’s always had great enthusiasm to give back to the Catholic community.”
“I’m hoping we can raise a ton of money for a great cause. Come on out for some family fun,” John Givnish, president of Life Celebration by Givnish, said. “Joe is an iconic Philadelphia figure, and the Conklins are the von Trapp family of Olney. They’re all entertainers and great people.”
