Jenkintown to celebrate 150th anniversary with special ceremony on Dec 8

Jenkintown Borough will host a 150th anniversary celebration on Sunday, December 8 at 11:00am in Town Square.

“This 150th anniversary celebration is more than just a look back at our borough’s history—it’s an opportunity to come together as a community and celebrate what makes Jenkintown so special,” said Ben Bergman, Chair of the Jenkintown 150 Committee. “It’s a time to honor our past while looking forward to a bright future.”

The celebration will feature the following:

  • Time Capsule Dedication: The ceremony will include the sealing of a time capsule filled with artifacts and reflections that represent Jenkintown today, ensuring our legacy lives on for generations to come.
  • Essay Readings: Winners of the borough-wide essay contest from Jenkintown School District will read their pieces, sharing unique perspectives on the past, present, and future of the borough.
  • National Anthem Performance: Jenkintown High School student Alana Schloth will perform the National Anthem, lending her incredible talent to this special day.
  • Remarks by Officials: Local leaders and distinguished guests will share their insights and congratulate the community on this historic milestone.
  • Live Music and Refreshments: Local musicians will provide entertainment while attendees enjoy hot chocolate and cake in a festive atmosphere.

Community members were also invited to contribute to the time capsule. Suggestions included letters, photos, and items that represented Jenkintown in 2024.
